Dr. Maureen Owiti is an obstetrician gynaecologist with vast experience in the field and great devotion women and their needs, especially their reproductive health.
Dr. Owiti completed medical school with a first class honors degree from the Russian Peoples’ Friendship University. She went on to do her residency at the University of Nairobi’s Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department based at Kenyatta National Hospital.
Since then, she has gone on to work at Kilifi District Hospital, Machakos Provincial Hospital and Thika Level 5 Hospital.
Through mentorship, Dr. Owiti developed a deep interest in the subspecialty of Fertility. She has worked with many couples to restore their fertility using various procedures, including laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
For those couples who feel they have achieved their desired family size or just want to space their pregnancies, she offers solutions through contraceptive management.
She works both in public and private sector and has had an opportunity to impact on the careers of budding gynaecologists as an honorary lecturer Kenyatta National Hospital’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Currently Dr. Owiti is based at the Kenyatta National Hospital. She also runs Gynacare alongside her partner Dr. Jane Machira where she continues with her goal to offer tailor-made reproductive health solutions for the modern Kenyan woman.
